“Folk culture”


Violin, cello, and piano

“Folk Culture”, will explore music written for violin, cello and piano, and popular tunes in classical music. Repertoire will include Beethoven’s Kakadu variations op. 121a, Rachmaninoff’s Trio Elegiaque number 1, Franck Martin’s Trio on Irish Folk Tunes, and Dvorak’s Dumky Trio.

“Awave”


Flute, piano & electronics

The festival will host the presentation of Guillermo Laporta’s Awave, which blends years of opera, symphonic and chamber music performances with multimedia sound design and sound track composition. The performance will present a collection of pieces written for VR experiences, theatrical sound design and video games. It will also feature the world premiere of 10 new pieces for flute, piano and electronics.

The third concert, titled “Just As They Are”, will present the full core ensemble of CreArtBox (flute, clarinet, violin, cello and piano) with a full scale set design and a unique visual approach. This will be the grand finale of the CreArt Festival. Repertoire will include music by Anna Clyne, Joshua Penman, Johannes Brahms, Marcos Fernandez, Georg Philipp Telemann, and David Lang.

CreArt Music Series VI: Gustav Mahler’s Fourth Symphony, Ransom Wilson, Le Train Bleu and CreArtBox


CreArtBox serve as ensemble-in-residence at the New York Society for Ethical Culture. Directed by Guillermo Laporta and Josefina Urraca, the group gathers world-class musicians, composers, designers, and visual artists and creates innovative multimedia & visual designs to enhance the music experience creating a performance experience that reaches a wider audience spectrum than traditional chamber music performances. The group has been described as “a wholly authentic, visually and aurally compelling experience” (Broadway World) and “a new ensemble devoted to multidisciplinary events” (Time Out New York).

In this edition, musicians of Le Train Bleu and CreArtBox will play together the chamber music arrangement of Gustav Mahler’s Fourth Symphony with guest artist soprano Janna Baty conducted by Ransom Wilson.

CreArt Music Series 05: Joshua Penman, Lewis Lockwood, Beethoven, Debussy and, Bryce Dessner.


CreArtBox continues its mission working with living composers presenting a new piece written by the American Composer, Joshua Penman.

Program:

1. Beethoven, Kakadu variations op. 121a.

2. Bryce Dessner, Murder Ballades.

3. Debussy, Petite Suite (arr. by Michael Webster).

4. Joshua Penman, Moontides (World Premiere).

The performance will include a brief pre-concert talk by the Beethoven scholar and biographer Lewis Lockwood, and a multi-media video mapping installation by designer Guillermo Laporta.

Bay Ridge Concert Series: Josefina Urraca and Guillermo Laporta duo.


Music by Claude Debussy, Bela Bartok, Guillermo Laporta, and Ottorino Respighi.

Josefina Urraca and Guillermo Laporta reimagine the music for violin and piano of Claude Debussy and Ottorino Respighi, expanding it into the repertoire of the modern flute.

In this performance, the duo will present a program with music of the 19th century and the 20th century.

Cre Art Music Series at New York Society for Ethical Culture


New York Society for Ethical Culture and CreArtBox presents a music series with music by Anna Clyne, David Lang, Timo Andres, Joshua Penman, and Meredith Monk. Established in September 2016 this series is designed to reach new audiences combining classical chamber music, new pieces by living composers, and New York-based ensembles and soloists, such as electric violinist, Todd Reynolds, composer and video artist, Luke DuBois, or Le Train Bleu Ensemble.
