Greenwich House of Music and CreArtBox music group presents a concert with music by Pulitzer and Grammy winner, Ned Rorem, Mendelssohn, and Haydn.

The concert will be held at the Renee Weiler Concert Hall in Greenwich House of Music, located at 46 Barrow St, New York, NY 10014, on Friday the 1st of March, 2019 at 7:30 pm.

CreArtBox's soloist, Julia Yang (cello), Guillermo Laporta (flute), and Josefina Urraca (piano) will offer a trio performance that includes some of the most recognizable pieces for this ensemble such as Felix Mendelssohn and Joseph Haydn's Piano Trios and the Three Water Colors by Philippe Gaubert.

The performance will also include two contemporary pieces by Turkish composer Elif Ebru Sakar and American composer Ned Rorem and a multimedia design in collaboration with sculptor Edjo Wheeler

Words and music are inextricably linked for Ned Rorem. Time Magazine has called him "the world's best composer of art songs," yet his musical and literary ventures extend far beyond this specialized field. Winner of the Pulitzer Prize and a Grammy, Rorem has composed three symphonies, four piano concertos, and an array of other orchestral works; music for numerous combinations of chamber forces; ten operas; choral works of every description; ballets and other music for the theater; and literally hundreds of songs and cycles. He is the author of sixteen books, including five volumes of diaries and collections of lectures and criticism.

This performance will be the 8th edition of the CreArt Music Series, a program founded in 2016 that has presented world-class musicians and ensembles such as violinist Todd Reynolds, video artist Luke Du Bois, flutist Ransom Wilson, LeTrain Blue Ensemble, composer Sebastian Currier, soprano Janna Baty, and bandoneonist JP Jofre.

This music series is presented by the music organization CreArtBox, in partnership with Greenwich House of Music, the New York Society for Ethical Culture, and supported by the Amphion Foundation.
