Cre.Art Project Ensemble announces 2013/14 season presenting musicians, dancers, visual artists in multidisciplinary performances throughout New York City

NEW YORK, NY (November 11, 2013) -- Cre.Art Project Ensemble has announced its 2013/14 season. Embarking on its first full season in New York City, the innovative Spanish-based group of multidisciplinary artists will collaborate with seasoned local musicians, dancers, and visual artists to present five new productions. From December 10 to May 27, Cre.Art Project Ensemble will appear in thirteen performances at the Cervantes Institute, Gershwin Hotel, DiMenna Center, Chain Theater, National Opera America Center, and Spectrum.

Founded in 2006 by musicians Guillermo Laporta and Tagore Gonzalez, Cre.Art Project operates under the idea of multidisciplinary interaction. The collective aims to produce shows that connect chamber music with theatre, dance, and the audiovisual to evoke a total sensory experience.

The season begins on December 10th at the Cervantes Institute and December 12th at the Gershwin Hotel with performances of Paris a.m., a production that explores how the city of Paris and its artists inspired the age of Impressionism. The show will interweave visual projections and actors reciting French poetry within the chamber music of Debussy, Roussel, and Pierne.

Two other productions round out Cre.Art Project Ensemble’s inaugural season. On February 4th, 5th, and 8th at the Chain Theater, on April 16th at Spectrum, and on April 26th at the National Opera America Center, the showmakers present VISUALITY, which Director Guillermo Laporta describes as “an exploration of where light and sound intersect in their purest forms.” Each performance of VISUALITY will feature a different solo artist from Cre.Art’s core roster performing music with electronics matched to multimedia visuals. On February 19th at Spectrum and February 21st at the DiMenna Center, Time Portraits will offer musical snapshots of contemporary American composers like: Michael Torke, Paul Moravec or Joan Tower.

Cre.Art Project Ensemble’s artist roster is led by director and flutist Guillermo Laporta, and includes pianist Josefina Urraca, violist Nathan Schram, cellist Yves Dharamraj, harpist, Megan Levin, resident composer Marcos Fernandez, and has featured guest artists bandoneonist Juan Pablo Jofre, dancers Yung- Li Chen and Eve Chang among others.

From its origins in Madrid, Cre.Art Project has appeared at leading venues and festivals across Europe, receiving critical acclaim and garnering top prizes at the INJUVE 08 Chamber Music Competition in Madrid, the 2007 Montehermoso Contemporary Creation Award, and the 2010 Promete Foundation Talent Award.

Cre.Art Project is also involved in educational projects with the TAI University School of Arts and Performance in Madrid, with the aim to facilitate the creation, research, production and implementation of new ideas and cultural projects with university students.

Now, on the heels of its successful New York-debut performance this past August, for which Time Out lauded the production as “ a new ensemble devoted to multidisciplinary events with a handful of very sharp freelance musicians,” Cre.Art Project Ensemble is eager to promote their dynamic mission and establish its ongoing presence in New York City with its first full season.
