Piano Trio · Illinois College

A piano-trio programme that frames Shostakovich's astonishing teenage Trio in C minor between the Boulanger sisters - Nadia's stark Modéré and Lili's late Nocturne - and closes with Rachmaninoff's first elegiac trio. Bloch, Casarrubios, and Kurtág complete a programme about grief, dedication, and the inheritance of musical voice.
