DiMenna Center Series
Threshold brings together music and visual art in a concert experience that explores states of transition, vulnerability, and resonance. Presented by CreArtBox, the program features violinist Emilie-Anne Gendron and pianist Josefina Urraca in a program that traces an arc from Classical clarity to late-Romantic intensity and contemporary expression.
At the core of the evening are two landmarks of the violin repertoire: Violin Sonata No. 2 by Ludwig van Beethoven, a work of elegance and balance that highlights dialogue and clarity, and the Violin Sonata in A major by César Franck, whose expansive lyricism and cyclical structure have made it a cornerstone of the violin repertoire.
Framing these works are Lili Boulanger’s Nocturne and György Kurtág’s Tre Pezzi, two concise yet deeply expressive compositions that open intimate and contrasting sonic spaces. Together, these works form a program shaped by subtle shifts in atmosphere, intensity, and color.
