Kuopio Conservatory Residency

Five days at Kuopio Conservatory: masterclasses with its students and a public showcase concert in the Music Centre's chamber hall on the second evening. The conservatory and the concert hall share the same complex on Kuopionlahdenkatu, though they are run separately.
The week centres on a workshop with the students on a question the ensemble keeps returning to: how to put a chamber work on stage differently. Less distance to the audience, other disciplines brought in rather than added on, and design treated as part of the performance instead of decoration. The students develop a piece of their own along those lines over the five days.
Not a public performance, apart from the concert. Work from these days feeds the autumn New York Series.

About CreArtBox
CreArtBox is a New York–based chamber music and multimedia ensemble founded in 2013, performing at The DiMenna Center for Classical Music and on tour internationally. The ensemble's New York Series presents approximately six productions a year - combining commissioned premieres, reimagined classics, and collaborations with visual artists, filmmakers, and writers.
In parallel, CreArtBox runs Festival ADAR each August in rural Asturias, Spain - an international arts festival pairing chamber music with site-specific performance in churches, hórreos, and mountain villages. Both the New York Series and Festival ADAR are produced by CreArtBox, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit.
